I encounter jerks whilst trading all the time, the biggest jerks from this bunch being the scammers. I absolutely despise scammers and their inability to play fairly. Thus the biggest jerk I choose to shame is the ONLY guy who has managed to scam me, due to a momentary lapse of concentration on my behalf.
This guy managed to scam me when the new greens came out and when Wenslauss's faith was worth around 50K. Now I know what people are going to say, its worth nothing now etc etc. However at the time there was demand for it and thats what the going price was. Anyways as I said I tried to sell this item and spent ages trying to get a buyer. Eventually I'm PM'ed by, lets call him JERK X, he says he will give me 40K and an ecto. I reply back and tell him thats sounds fine. So we initiate the trade and I see 40K in my window but no ecto, then without a prompt a see a trade modification. An ecto now sits in my window but little known to me 40gp instead of 40 plat. I accept and then soon after realise what I have done.
Quickly after this I try to PM the guy who has now put me on ignore. I hate that function! Its abused far too often. I quickly screenshot all the trade and then record time and date etc. I try to get my guildies to PM him and ask him to give me what I asked for or I'm reporting him, so he goes on DnD. REPORTED! After several days he takes me off ignore, probably because he scams so much and ignores so many other people. SO I PM him and give him a chance to redeem himself and get no response. Eventually I hear from ANET, they tell me they are looking into the situation and they will take appropriate action and that I won't hear from them if anything takes place. About a week after I notice my scamming friend is no longer online at all. I asked my guildies to verify this. JERK X was no more. One less idiot we will all we better off without.

When someone gets reported for something like that is their account permanently shut down? Or just for a time period like the idiots who make racist comments and cuss that get reported? I reported someone once but like you said ANET doesn't let you know whats going on. :/

Seems like it depends. Some people have reported permanent bans, in my case for threats of murder and rape the guy got 3 days (had him on friends list, wasn't on for 3 days then came online; course coulda just taken a few days break of his own accord)

Jerk: you can't play this unless you played the full game
Me: yes you can
Jerk: this is a factions PREVIEW you need to have the full game
Me: NO you do NOT
Random other: no you don't

Are you aware that you come across as the more hateful player in this situation? Among other things, you use the term 'noob' at least three times..

This is the greatest thread of all time.
Anyway, the one thing that does annoy me (yes I have learned my lesson) is when you go do UW and think your taking a real healing monk but turns out its a 55 monk. I now hardly ever take W/Mo's to FoW or UW.
Another jerk I have encountered was this time I was trading with some guy. The trade went smooth and we talked for about a half an hour, seemed like a nice guy, willing to learn, etc. Now this is the time when the IDS's were new so I told him about them. He was nice to me I guess because he didn't know what they were or where he could get them. So me, being the nice guy that I am, told him where it was and everything. He was still nice. Later on then, he PMed me asking if he could join my guild. I discussed it with my guildies and they agreed. We were getting ready to do some IDS hunting so we invited him along. Right away I could tell it was going to be trouble. He imediatelly asked if he could have an IDS. We said no, we are farming for them now. We soon realized how much of a jerk he was. He started acting beligerant, calling us noobs, etc (even though he was the one aggroing the titans and carring the most worthless spells a warrior could have). We still put up with him, because we needed him to help us in the cave, so we agreed to kick him from the guild after we get finish farming. The straw that broke that camels back was when I opened a chest and got an awesome aegis (not the greatest in the world, but defenently good). He then proceeded to ask me if he could have that shield, this after he made fun of us and called us noobs. The moral of the story, don't trust anyone, lol. jj

Anyway this newer member that was on one day asked me how he could become an officer. I basically said it took time and to talk to the leader of the guild (no one else was online), so he begged me and told me he knew the leader and ran with him everyday. So me not really knowing anyone in the guild I didn't wanna tell this guy to f' off because what if he really knew the leader? So I said screw it he's just a retard, made him officer so he would shut up, and under his word he knew the leader, and told him not to kick anyone.
I login one day, all the members are gone and so is the dude who I promoted. I knew exactly what happened. No one else was online, but the guild was basically nuked. The next day was when the econ crashed and there was a rollback, so no one could get on. When the servers came up I hopped on and was no longer in the guild. Shot a PM to the leader who I knew kicked me and he was upset and knew I promoted that guy. He was nice and I explained it all, let me back in, made me officer and we now have more members than ever, and they are nice people. Took a lot of recruiting to get a guild again and like 4 officers left the guild from what happened. That guy was the biggest jerk ever.

Man, the same exact thing happened to my guild, well sort of. One of our officers downloaded some program from a random guildwars site (bad mistake). He then logged in one day to find that someone hacked into his account, deleted his armor, his weapons, and got rid of all his money. The worse thing about it though was the bastard (pardon my french) kicked out all the members. We were a growing guild at the time and we had about 30 members, plus officers. We were starting to get to the point where we could GvG and stuff like that. Basically we had to start from scratch again. It totally sucked. The worse thing of all is that our guild was active, where the longest a person was away was a week. Some people we got back but the rest, we lost. We were so mad

This story is meant to make you feel better.
I was in tombs with 2 guildies and rest pug doing a bp run. From the get go the healing was sub standard. The monk was group leader and his guildie orders necro was 2nd on the list right below him. I had made the mistake of only bringing armor with superior runes on it (all my armor is druids and i sometimes get confused). Anyway, I am the first to die but not the last. By the end of the second part I have 60 dp. Others in the party had 15-30 dp. We were doing ok though. everyone was ressing eachother and paying attention. and the fact that I had less than 100 hp was cracking the group up. Everyone was making fun when I died but in a good natured way. The group was really having a great time. But, that was the problem. We were chatting so much that no one noticed the health bars. My guild leader was the first to notice. He whispered me and told me to watch the bars for anything out of the ordinary. Less than a minute later I saw what he was talking about. The monks health never went below 3/4 and his necro guildie had mending on him and he was not part monk. At the begining of the last stage my guild leader asked in team chat why the monk was using mending. No response. Then he asked why he was giving most of the healing to himself and his guildie. No response. After that I noticed the monk had no shoes. I whispered my leader telling him the monk was a 55 and had no shoes because of the superior -hp. We started whispering the rest of the team with our discovery. Fearing of lost greens they replied with questions of what to do. Thats when I came up with a solution. I told my guild leader and he aggreed on the plan and we told everyone to not worry. We would fix this guy and not to say anything. right before the last room i told everyone i had to pee and to go on w/o me since I was worthless with 60dp anyway. Everyone went into the last room and i stayed back and ate a Candy cane. Dp was now gone and I watched the health bars and waited. As soon as they killed the grasp popups on the right side and attacked the bosses the healing stopped just as we predicted. Everyone died except the monk who "miraculously" had full life. That is when i used storm chaser and ran into the room took a left, aggroed all the grasps and dryders, and brought them right to the monk who was already battling the bosses. Then with almost no life left I activated storm chaser again and just barely got away from the grasps. Everyone was like wtf happened and called the monk a scammer. When everything calmed down in the room I ressed everyone and passed out Candy Canes. We proceeded to pwn the bosses without the monks help and left him dead. It was hilarious because a bulwark and victos axe dropped for him and his guildie right on their corpses. We all decided to kill the last group and set the clock going. He had to lay there and watch his luckiest drop every slip away because of his greed and we all cheered and were happy with our green staffs. The whole time he never said a word.
Score one for the good guys!

i was doing the divinity coast mission one day, and we had this wammo with full 15k gladiators. he was only level 16. that immediately raised a red flag for me, but i went along with it. anyways, he was aggroing everything in sight and killing them, all the while bragging that he's invincible and that we all suck. fortunately, he was rushing ahead so much that he was almost out of my radar for the entire map, so we never had any aggro problems. then it came to the bonus. being the almighty wammo he is, he ran off of my radar and initiated the bonus. after a while (he was still not on my radar at that point) he started to flame the entire team for being too slow and letting the monsters kill the bonus person. i then patiently told him that it was HIS fault for rushing ahead so much without the rest of the group. he then went berserk and pulled a mob to me, which i managed to finish off by cycling whirling defense and throw dirt. he then ragequit, leaving only me and my dead teammates. fortunately i managed to rez someone and finished the mission.
anet really needs to add a level requirement to the 15k armours. especially the warrior ones.
